Access Bank Makes A Donation To The School of Languages

As part of the Dean’s effort to raise funds for the School of Languages, a request was submitted to Access Bank Ghana Limited for support. In response, the Bank scheduled a meeting to make a donation to the School on 1st June, 2016.

The Group Head, Mr. Abban, indicated that the reason for their visit was to make a donation as part of their corporate social responsibility. The item presented was a 2 part photocopier, which were a Xerox Multi-Function printer (the copier) and a Xerox Work Centre, its base or stand.

The items, which were beautifully packaged, were received on behalf of the School by the Dean of the School of Languages, Professor  Nana Aba Amfo.

She expressed her appreciation on behalf of the School and indicated that, it was would be the beginning of a new relationship between the two organizations which would be nurtured.

During further discussions, Mr. Abban and his team informed the School about their new branch, which will be the University of Ghana campus, would be opened by the end of July for operations. There was an indication that, the operations of the branch would be more digital, with manual services still available.

Mrs. Keziah Enyan, a member of the team that made the donation, marketed their products and spoke about how Access Bank challenge their staff to learn sign language so as to narrow the gap in communication for verbally challenged customers in their banking halls.

The Dean, gave a summary of the activities of the School and indicated that the School organizes language proficiency and professional courses to the general public, which they could take advantage of. In relation to Mrs. Enyan’s comment, the Dean confirmed that the Linguistics Department has an elective course in Sign Language.
